SEO – Search Engine Optimisation

If you have a website but it’s not showing when people search
for your products or services, you need SEO.

SEO is short for ‘search engine optimisation’ and basically means tweaking your website so Google (and other search engines) consider it worthy of putting at the top of the results. At Abisti, we’ve been doing this since 1999, and have a great track record of happy customers.

More than 90% of online experiences still start with a search engine

“Can only be honest and say that increased traffic to my site resulting in more patients/clients coming through the door was the most important aspect of the re-design. It was a significant turning point for the clinic and I was more than happy that I made that decision.”

The SEO Process

Site Audit

This is the first stage of the process. We’ll look through your website and produce a report detailing the state of the site in SEO terms and a list of suggestions to improve it in Google’s eyes.

Keyword research

We need to be turning up on Google’s results page for search phrases that people are actually using – the ones they’re most using in fact. Luckily, Google has a ‘back door’ where it shows us this very information. So, using that, we’ll compile a list of search phrases (known, somewhat confusingly as ‘keywords’) that we want to optimise the site for.

Competitor Audit

Your site doesn’t have to be perfect, but it does have to be at least as good as your competitors. So we’ll take a good look at how your site performs compared to rivals when people type in search terms you want to appear for. This, combined with the site audit, will give us both an idea of what’s needed to get you where you want to be.

Site tweaking

Once that’s all agreed, we’ll send you a proposal of how we want to tweak your website to get us nearer the desired results

Ongoing SEO

The quality of your website, whilst being a vital foundation on which to build, isn’t the only thing Google looks at when it decides on its search rankings. It looks at your wider presence on the internet, how people interact with all aspects of your web presence (likes & discussions on social media for instance), and how many other websites consider you worthy of a link from their website (known as ‘backlinks’).

Staying Under The Radar

None of the above is top secret knowledge, though implementing it properly is certainly not safe to DIY. Thanks in large part to SEO companies, Google has developed a slight animosity towards attempts to manipulate its results After all, its raison d’etre is accurate results.

So these days it is essential that all SEO work is aimed at genuinely increasing the value you deliver on the internet. There have been many tricks over the years (remember we started doing this in the late 90s) – not only do tricks fail now, they actually get you punished. So the only solution is to play it very straight indeed.

SEO Training

We can offer you one to one training (presently via Zoom due to Covid) or via video. We also offer online courses in SEO and many other aspects of web consultancy – these are popular with other web design companies as well as clients (yes, we teach other web designers!).
